The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) Companion Animal Program administers the license. The fee is set by rule on holding capacity — $100 for up to 20 pets, $200 for 21–40, $300 for 41–80, $400 for more than 80 — the license runs one year from issue, expires twelve months after the issue date, and a late renewal carries a penalty of 100 percent of the fee that GDA says it cannot waive by law.
